Branding, Content Management
MARCH 2014 - JUNE 2016
- Strategize messaging, milestones and touch points for more than six audiences while maintaining the continuity and purpose of the conference as a whole
- Coordinate development, production and distribution of print and digital collateral, working with project manager, graphic designer, print house, web systems administrator, PR director, student organizers and university faculty
- Develop website architecture, messaging and layout; manage web content across conference cycle
- Create copy for web, print, email and social channels while continuing to elevate brand quality and consistency
Every year, CSAW produces six student-organized competitions, a rolling selection of industry workshops, a career fair and keynote presentations. Each of these events serves a different niche within the cyber security community.
For example, one competition is targeted to high school students who may have no prior knowledge or interest in cyber security. Another is targeted at authors of recently-published doctoral research. In addition to the six competition targets, the conference's special events bring in more audience subsets, with topics including the career pipeline for women, tech startups, the open source community and more.
The marketing strategy for this conference must give individual attention to each of these audiences while holding the big picture intact. That said, CSAW is more than an event. For the university, it's also a business asset that builds prestige and drives recruitment; its marketing must support these overarching goals.
