- Strategize messaging, milestones and touch points to reach three audiences (high school girls, college women and mid-career professionals) and drive participation in the conference; form collaborative relationships with organizations doing similar projects
- Coordinate development, production and distribution of print and digital collateral, working with project manager, graphic designer, print house, web systems administrator, PR director, panel guests and university faculty
- Develop website architecture, messaging and layout; manage web content across conference cycle
- Create copy for web, print, email and social channels while continuing to elevate brand quality and consistency
This project was launched to improve the pipeline into cyber security for women. The first annual conference took place in 2014. Within its first two years it was covered by CNBC and Huffington Post, and featured prestigious keynote speakers including Shelley Westman (VP & COO Security Services, IBM Security) and Ioana Badea (Director, Insights & Market Research, Intel Corporation). Attendees listened to day-in-the-life talks from female leaders in the field, networked, engaged in hands-on training sessions, participated in speed mentoring with the guest panel, and discovered opportunities to move deeper into the field through the university.
The marketing and branding of this event bring several challenges: how to access an audience of mid-career professionals who are thinking about switching tracks? How to create a voice that speaks to an audience ranging in age from high school to mid-career? How to provide ongoing resources for networking, education and inspiration year-round? With each year, the marketing team's approach to these questions have continued to evolve.
